Finnish Bioindustries (FIB)
Finnish Bioindustries (FIB) is a private, independent, non-profit orgnization established in 1997 representing Finnish biotechnology companies. FIB member companies vary from small start-up companies to big industrial enzyme producing companies. Majority of the companies are small drug discovery and diagnostic companies and are in the healthcare sector (red biotechnology). Biotech sector is very research intensive and there is a close collaboration between universities, research centres and companies. Biomedicine is one of the strongest research areas in Finland and the aim is to utilize and commercialize the research results effectively. Finnish Bioindustries is a member of EuropaBio and BIO.
